Music Video Analysis - Alex G #LittleMissPerfect

Both music and sound effects have been used in this music video.

 
The establishing shot shows the artist Alex G, after zooming out from the title of the song. The boot of a car opens to reveal the artist.
The most common shot type used in this music video is the mid shot. This shows the audience more detail, such as facial expressions of the artist. The mid shot allows room for hand gestures and other movement. The mid shot allows the viewer to see the background. The prop used, the rope, emphasises the fact that the artist has been kidnapped.
Close ups were also used in this video. The close ups clearly show the expressions of the artist and the mannequin. This editing for this section of the video is fast paced compared with the slower pace from the rest of the video; this goes with the sound effects added.
Sound effects have been added to the music video, such as 'ding' and camera shutter. This makes the video seem more comical.

This music video has a comical style shown by the use of the mannequin and weight landing on the cake. The setting for this scene is in the style of the 50’s. This theme is continued throughout the video.

Text has been added throughout the music video. These introduce the song, the time line, show the messages and make the video more comical.
The camera has been placed at a low angle, this makes the artist seem powerful and dominant. A split screen is one of the techniques used on this music video. This allows the audience to see multiple images at one time.








 
Over the shoulder shots have been multiply used in this music video. Used during conversations and to hide the identity of the person.
The overall theme for the music video is in the style of the 50's. This is shown by the clothing worn and the hairstyle of the artist and the props, such as the television. Also the setting of the diner and the kitchen.
Other effects added to this video is making sections black and white in the style of an old film. The white background used in these sections draws the focus onto the characters. This is added to by the black frame produced by the effects added to make the video seem older.
