The Killers Album Cover Analysis

The background and the name of the artist/band is in the style of a mosaic. The name of the band almost blends into the background, as it is also in the mosaic style and a lighter shade of purple. The shades of purple connotes wisdom, power and loyalty. The name of the album stands out from the rest of the album, this contrast with the title of the album as it is pure white and not mosaic style. Both the name of the album and the band are in the centre of the cover. This draws the audience's attention to the names.

The foreground of the album cover links into the title of the album. This is connected by the natural scene and the possible meaning behind the title. 'Day and Age' suggests a new beginning, this links into the design of the cover. The sun in the sky may also suggest the beginning of the new time. The scenery is empty suggesting a peaceful atmosphere. The sky turns from dark to light, this follows on with the theme of a new day/beginning. The lighter patches in the darkened sky could be stars; this shows the transition of the new day.

The background for the advertisement is the same style as the background for the CD cover. The name of the band is also in the same font style, but in a different colour, this stands out from the background. The advertisement introduces the new album and single 'Human'. The white contrasts with the darker background.
